Mission readiness is the number one priority for the military. With increasingly complicated mission logistics, steep rising costs, and stretched resources, the military needs solutions that support a ‘ready-now’ force.

That’s where Lockheed Martin steps in.

We are redefining modeling and simulation (M&S) for the U.S. military and trusted international customers. For over 20 years, we have partnered with our customers to provide M&S solutions, delivering advanced training and mission preparedness capabilities to forces across the globe. Now, we offer more opportunities for global operational readiness.

How we’re redefining M&S:

1. ACES – Advanced Center for Experimentation and Simulation

By coupling our deep experience in M&S with military doctrine, we have developed ACES — a state-of-the-art wargaming and experimentation system that models, simulates and analyzes multi-domain operations and complex scenarios.

As a single, integrated platform, ACES is a comprehensive and versatile tool that supports a wide range of military operations, from planning and training to execution and analysis. The tool includes a scalable and adaptable architecture, optimized for AI and machine learning.

2. Collaborations: Google, NVIDIA and others

We team up with the best in the business – such as Google, NVIDIA, Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, Blackshark.ai, and others – to ensure our M&S solutions have the latest emerging technologies paired with our trusted, secure infrastructure.

3. U.S. Army’s Flight School Next – Turnkey Training

Through our deep experience as a training systems integrator and collaborating with customers on turnkey training systems, we are ready now to take Flight School Next students from trainees to the Army aviators the U.S. Army Warfighter Concept demands.

We’re upscaling our turnkey training solution with our own innovative technologies, such as LM-LIFT™ and TRAESER™.

LM-LIFT integrates components of the training ecosystem to efficiently manage and execute training curriculum, individual events, personnel and resources. It includes the ability to track, record and analyze data to optimize training, gather student feedback, and provide targeted learning.

TRAESER provides a digital twin of the training enterprise, translating syllabi and throughput requirements into enhanced course schedules and resource and maintenance plans. This enables instructors and base commanders to perform “what-if” scenario planning and analysis to optimize program performance and rapidly scale to meet changing requirements.

4. New Simulation for All Environments

We’ve quietly developed a state-of-the-art simulation engine that will serve as the backbone for all of our training solutions. It will also be available for integration into training solutions currently in the field.

See it first at I/ITSEC.

5. Training for Humans and AI

Earlier this year we announced AI Fight Club™ – a head-to-head style competitive environment designed to accelerate the development and operational deployment of artificial intelligence and bring warfighters faster decision-making and secure data analysis. As a comprehensive testing ground, AI Fight Club simulates how AI systems perform across domains – air, land, sea and space – to test models that meet Department of War qualifications.

Recently, the new simulation engine solution, along with our other home-grown technologies, successfully conducted a cross-country networked exercise of synthetic Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), creating a reusable, low-cost testbed to train and iterate AI models and autonomy without launching a drone. The event drastically reduces the need to perform live UAS flight tests, driving down costs, freeing up vital resources, and allowing for accelerated development timelines.
