Employee Wellness

At Lockheed Martin, we recognize that the health and well-being of our employees is a strong contributor to the health and well-being of our organization. Our employees are our greatest asset, and we offer them a wide range of resources to meet their needs, as well as the time and support to succeed in their professional and personal lives. From compensation and benefits to on-site health and wellness centers, flexible work schedules, mental health support and financial tools, we offer a comprehensive host of programs, benefits, resources and incentives to help ensure that our employees live happy, healthy, fulfilled lives inside and outside of work.

Our health and well-being programs, services and activities are jointly overseen by our Human Resources organization and our Health and Wellness organization, which are led by our Chief Human Resources Officer and our Chief Medical Officer, respectively.

Health Care Benefits

In 2022, we spent over $1 billion on our benefits program, which covers employee well-being and preventative care. Lockheed Martin offers a large selection of premier health care providers to support our employees' physical and mental health. We continuously review our benefits program in comparison to other leading companies and use population health-focused data insights to make improvements. Over the past five years we have expanded our family-building benefits; increased physical, speech and occupational therapy coverage; offered enhanced hearing aid and chiropractic coverage; added supplemental plans such as critical illness, 24-hour accident and hospital indemnity; and increased our coverage of in-network telemedicine care to 100%, after deductible.

Employee Assistance Program

Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides free and confidential emotional support, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, both virtually and in person. The program includes resources for employees and their families in the areas of emotional well-being; financial counseling; legal counseling; mediation services; adult, child and elder-care support; and educational resources. In 2023, our EAP services transitioned to a new third-party service provider, allowing us to expand the suite of services we offer. In addition to traditional EAP work-life services and eight no-cost counseling sessions per issue per year, this new service provider offers a more robust behavioral health provider network; 24/7 text, audio and video therapy; and a self-guided resiliency app.

Health and Wellness Centers

Having employee medical services available on-site is essential to the unique operations at some of our locations. Lockheed Martin operates health and wellness centers at 26 of our sites, providing occupational and non-occupational physical and emotional wellness support services to site employees. Although the use of our health and wellness centers decreased slightly with fewer employees working in person during the pandemic, in 2022 we had more than 17,000 employee visits across all our sites.

Wellness Incentive Program

Our Wellness Incentive program allows employees to earn dollars that go into their health savings account to use for medical expenses now or to save for the future. Lockheed Martin offers two ways to earn a wellness incentive each year. Employees can take an online health survey that produces a health score and provides access to helpful tips and online courses on topics such as sleep, meditation and stress to help employees make meaningful lifestyle changes to improve their overall health. Employees can also receive a biometric screening, either at our Health and Wellness centers or with their primary care physician, which can help identify conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and prediabetes, and allow them to make adjustments to their lifestyle.

Education and Outreach

Keeping our employees and leadership up to date on the most recent health information is key to effective personal and professional decision-making. The Health and Wellness team provides focused presentations to teams across the enterprise and business areas on topics such as COVID-19, Mpox, mental health and emotional well-being. In 2022, more than 35 presentations contributed to increased employee awareness and assisted with business area responses to health concerns.

Increased Importance of Telehealth Services

Due to COVID-19, the use of telehealth services increased significantly over pre-pandemic levels. Lockheed Martin's robust telehealth program for both physical and mental health has helped our employees adapt to the new normal. Prior to 2020, roughly 2,000 telehealth services were utilized per year. In 2022, over 100,000 telehealth services were utilized. We continue to expand our virtual benefits offerings to meet our employees' needs.
