While our Sustainability Management Plan (SMP) provides the framework for the integration of sustainability into our business, we have many other programs that enhance how we support our workforce, reduce our environmental footprint, positively contribute to our communities and uphold our commitment to integrity.

Climate Risk Analysis and Disclosures

Our climate risk and opportunity analysis includes our largest international operations, including the UK, Poland, and Australia and extends to all global sites and supplier locations. This data-focused approach supports accurate and more complete reporting globally, allowing us to meet requirements subject to jurisdictional regulatory climate disclosures while aligning with corporate efforts and ISSB S2 reporting.

Multiple resources detail our climate-related risk and opportunity analysis, including:

Climate Lobbying Assessment

Lockheed Martin is committed to participating in the political and public policy process in a responsible and ethical way that serves the best interests of our stockholders and customers. We detail and disclose extensive information on our Political Disclosures website.

In accordance with our sustainability governance processes, we evaluate the public policy positions of selected trade and industry associations that we are members of to assess their alignment with our sustainability policy and program. Our assessment methodology includes the following:

  • Develop a selected list of relevant trade associations for evaluation, defined as those memberships with annual dues of $25,000 or more.
  • Evaluate the public climate positions of each identified trade association through website research.
  • Publish the results of our evaluation in section 4.11 of our CDP Climate Change report.

Employee Benefits

The health and well-being of our employees is a strong contributor to the health and well-being of our organization. Our employees are our greatest asset, and we offer a wide range of resources to meet their needs, as well as the time and support to succeed in their professional and personal lives. From competitive compensation and benefit programs, to on-site health and wellness centers, leave and disability programs, flexible work schedules, mental health support and retirement plans, we offer a comprehensive host of total rewards to help ensure that our employees live happy, healthy, fulfilled lives inside and outside of work.

While most of our employees are based in the United States, a growing population works internationally. We understand that no matter where we are, our benefit offerings need to be locally and culturally appropriate, and we work hard to make sure all employees feel a part of the same organization while benefiting from investment in locally aligned benefit packages. Remediation and Biodiversity

Lockheed Martin has built our success on long-standing innovation and business excellence, as well as strategic acquisitions. Some operations conducted over the years, although in compliance with relevant laws at the time, resulted in soil or groundwater contamination. Where remedial actions are warranted, Lockheed Martin works collaboratively with regulatory agencies and communities to remedy the effects of the contamination.

We are not only committed to taking effective remedial actions, but we also aim to make our remediation projects sustainable wherever possible. We do this by using innovative technological solutions, such as disposing of contaminants with waste to energy incineration and renewing the activated carbon that acts as a filter in many of our treatment plants by safely burning off contaminants and reusing the carbon. We continue to use reactivated carbon at over 10 sites where it is approved for use by the regulator.

Lockheed Martin’s director of Environmental Remediation reports to the senior vice president of Ethics and Enterprise Assurance, providing significant executive-level focus on the importance of properly managing Lockheed Martin’s environmental remediation responsibilities. The director is responsible for effective implementation of remedial solutions and for accurate financial reporting to the vice president and corporate controller in support of U.S. Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting requirements.

As of 2025, we have 71 active remediation projects across our operations. You can read more about our commitment to remediation and the impacts to local environments on our Remediation website.

Social Impact

As a responsible corporate citizen, Lockheed Martin and our employees strive to be valued partners to our neighbors, nation and allies. Our team actively contributes to enhancing the quality of life in the communities where we live and work.

Our focus areas include science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, military and veteran causes, and projects that contribute to building more resilient and thriving communities.

Waste Management

We implement a comprehensive total waste reduction strategy that focuses on minimizing the waste our facilities generate and ensures that the waste generated at our facilities is properly handled according to local, state and national regulations. To do this, we consider packaging from our supply chain, reuse and repurposing of materials, and focused employee engagement to promote waste stewardship.

Waste management and disposal activities are governed by our Waste Disposal and Recycling internal corporate procedure. A corporate-wide Waste Reduction Working Group meets regularly to collaborate on waste reduction efforts and share related best practices. In addition, the Waste Reduction Working Group oversees the setting of annual project-based goals across our business areas to drive further reductions with an emphasis on circularity. Waste volumes, spills and recycling percentages are published annually in our Performance Index

Water Management

Lockheed Martin seeks to reduce environmental impacts and enhance the resiliency of our operations across the globe, including opportunities to reduce water usage.

We have spent several years identifying and studying water management opportunities at facilities in the highest water-stressed regions to understand where operations might be affected by water constraints and how to be better water stewards in these communities. We periodically review our water supply risk analysis and used the results in coordination with water balance analyses to further develop action plans and implement solutions. These studies help us understand water sources, how water is used and discharged, and water efficiency opportunities.

We also consider water efficiency opportunities when we review sites for energy efficiency projects. For example, steam conversion and chiller upgrades result in both energy and water savings.

Water withdrawal data is published annually in our Performance Index.
