At Lockheed Martin, we understand that employees are our most valuable asset. Our workforce readiness strategy is founded on strong policies, which protect employees and exemplify the robust collective culture we strive to foster. We have a company‑wide employee safety program - Target Zero - that has been in place for decades and upholds a long tradition of safety awareness.

Employee Safety & Health

Goal

Reduce our highest workplace safety and health risks

The health, safety and well-being of our employees is a top priority for Lockheed Martin. This includes the prevention, reduction and mitigation of workplace incidents and illnesses. Our objective to create a safer work environment will help us protect the foundation of our business and our greatest asset: our people.

Our Target Zero injury reduction program goes beyond compliance to ensure safe work conditions, promote workforce resiliency and enhance business value. We actively implement programs to reduce risk, prevent injuries and empower our employees to take an active role in safety initiatives.  We have a strong emphasis on serious incident and fatality (SIF) prevention through a consistent approach to identify and mitigate critical risks that have the potential to lead to our highest consequence incidents.  In addition, through our ISO 45001-certified enterprise Environment, Safety and Health Management System, we drive continuous improvement and commit all business areas to operating in a manner that provides a safe and healthful working environment for our employees.

Lockheed Martin’s vice president of Environment, Safety, Health and Sustainability is responsible for our Target Zero programs and chairs an ESH Leadership Council, which includes business area and functional representatives and sets direction and policy as well as strategy and priorities for the execution and evaluation of our injury reduction program performance.
